Linkoeping Schweden

Linköping is a city located in southern Sweden. Headquarters of the municipality of Linköping with 146,154 inhabitants and the capital of the province of Ostrogotia. Linköping is also the episcopal seat of the Diocese of Linköping. Linköping is the center of an ancient cultural region and celebrated its 700th anniversary in 1987. Today Linköping is known for the University of Linköping and its technological industry. Dominating the city's skyline from a great distance is the cathedral tower. The city is located south of Lake Roxen where the main road from Stockholm to Helsingborg crosses the Stångån River. This road was part of the Eriksgata route that the new elect king had to travel in accordance with Swedish medieval law. In the road network of the twentieth century, at the beginning it was called Riksettan. Currently called E4 and has been split to surround the city from the north. Another contribution to the excellent communications of Linköping is its location on the main railway that connects Stockholm with Malmoe and the Danish capital Copenhagen. It also has a secondary airport.
