From the coffee triangle, the journey continues to the picturesque village of Salento and the impressive "Valle de Cocora". You then fly to Medellin, probably Colombia's most notorious city, which has now been recognised as the most innovative city in the world. In the morning, you will explore the capital during a city tour. You will see the ‘La Candelaria’ neighbourhood, where you can still feel the past, and visit the impressive Gold Museum (closed on Monday). In the afternoon, drive to Zipaquirá, around 50 kilometres away, where you will visit the impressive underground salt cathedral. Then continue to Villa de Leyva, a magnificent colonial city par excellence. The colonial ambience of Villa de Leyva has inspired many artists, including the filmmakers of a Spanish telenovela about the life and goings-on of the legendary ‘El Zorro’.

Day 3 (Fri): Villa de Leyva (B)

Villa de Leyva, one of the most beautiful colonial villages in Colombia, is an ideal starting point for exploring the surrounding region. There are several cultural and natural highlights, including archaeological relics and colonial buildings. In addition to the 17th century Dominican monastery Ecce Homo, you will also see a relatively complete fossil of a cronosaurus.

Day 4 (Sat): Villa de Leyva - Bogota - Pereira (B)

Early in the morning we head back to Bogotá, from where we fly directly to the coffee centre of Colombia. No matter how you like your coffee, the ‘Zona Cafetera’ is not to be missed. In the afternoon, visit a plantation and see how coffee is produced. Enjoy the view of volcanoes, coffee plants and the beautiful mountain landscape over a cup of coffee.

Day 5 (Son): Salento and ‘El Valle de Cocora’ (B)

Today is also dedicated to this picturesque and beautiful region of the country. The village of Salento is certainly a highlight. Stroll through the narrow streets and let your mind wander. To the east of Salento is the impressive ‘Valle de Cocora’, which will enchant you with its wide green valleys, rugged mountain peaks and the ‘Palma de Cera’, the so-called wax palms. The trees, up to 60 metres high, tower above the cloud forest - a breathtakingly beautiful sight!

Day 6 (Mon): Pereira - Medellín (B)

In the morning you will be taken to Pereira airport and fly on to Medellín. The modern and up-and-coming city is nestled in the Antioquia region and is also known as the city of eternal spring due to its mild climate. You will go on a city tour and then take the ‘Metrocable’ cable car, where you can enjoy a fantastic view of the city.

Day 7 (Tue): Medellin - Guatapé (B)

Santa Elena is the ‘green lung’ of Medellín, an area rich in tradition where floriculture and the ‘silleteros’ have their origins. On a tour of the finca and flower farm, you will also learn more about the production of ‘silleta’, the history and traditional music of the region. You can climb the 200 metre high rock via 740 steps. Enjoy a breathtaking view of the landscape full of green mountains and blue lakes.

Day 8 (Wed): Medellin - Cartagena (B)
