Neiva Colombia

Neiva is the Capital of the Department of Huila. It is located in the valley of the Magdalena River in south central Colombia. Neiva offers a variety of activities, including the pleasant Parque Santander in the heart of the city and the Malecón del Rio Magdalena at the river’s edge. Neiva makes a perfect base to explore the attractions in the surrounding area. The Tatacoa Desert to the north and Parque Isla on the opposite side of the Magadalena are a must-see. Tatacoa Desert, the second largest dry area in Colombia after the desert of La Guajira, is one of Colombia’s most attractive natural landscapes. It covers an area of 330 km² of grey and ochre soil embellished by the green of the cactuses. If you can, be sure to get to Neiva in June for the famous San Pedro folklore festival, a lively urban party that showcases the typical dance of the Colombian Andes and the highest expression of region’s folklore.
