Look forward to an unforgettable adventure in Namibia, from the fascinating wildlife of Etosha National Park to the endless expanses of the Namib Desert.
Day 1 (Sat): Windhoek – Etosha National Park
After your arrival in Windhoek, you will be welcomed by your tour guide. You will then travel north to Tsumeb, the gateway to Etosha National Park. Over the coming days, you will explore the park extensively.
Day 2 (Sun): Etosha National Park (B)
Today, you will discover the famous Etosha National Park, an impressive protected area home to more than 110 mammal species and over 300 bird species. The animals roam freely across an area of around 22,000 square kilometres, while visitors are required to remain within designated and secured camps. On game drives, you may encounter elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, oryx, kudus and springboks, and with a little luck, nocturnal predators such as leopards, cheetahs or hyenas. Etosha also offers excellent birdwatching opportunities. Depending on the season, the vast Etosha Pan, a spectacular salt pan, provides unique wildlife experiences. You will follow selected routes to various waterholes, where animals tend to gather, particularly during the cooler morning and evening hours.
Day 3 (Mon): Etosha National Park (B)
Today brings another day of exciting wildlife encounters. Exactly what you will see remains unpredictable – and that is part of the appeal. Every day in the park is different and promises new and fascinating sightings. The western part of the park is particularly diverse in terms of vegetation, and each waterhole has its own character. With an attentive eye, you may spot a lion or hyena resting well camouflaged in the shade. During the heat of the day, the animals behave much like we do: they seek out a shady spot and rest. The best times for game drives are therefore early morning and late afternoon.
Day 4 (Tue): Erongo Region (B)
After your intensive days in Etosha National Park, your journey continues to the scenic and culturally fascinating Erongo Region. Along the way, enjoy vast landscapes and relaxed road-trip moments. In Omaruru, a charming small town with a colonial history, you can explore historic buildings, an old church and small galleries. From here, an excursion to the Living Museum of the San is highly recommended. The project introduces visitors to San culture while also supporting the local community. Rock paintings and archaeological sites in the surrounding area bear witness to their history, which stretches back thousands of years – offering a fascinating insight into Namibia’s cultural heritage.
Day 5 (Wed): Erongo – Swakopmund (B)
Today, you continue towards the Atlantic coast, stopping en route at the so-called “Matterhorn of Namibia”. Here, accompanied by a local guide, you will enjoy a guided hike to “Bushman’s Paradise”. Amid impressive rock formations, you will discover ancient San rock paintings and gain fascinating insights into the early history of the country. After so many wildlife and nature experiences, it is time to relax. In Swakopmund, also known as “Swakop”, you will find a pleasant change of scenery: colonial architecture, cosy cafés and restaurants, a palm-lined seafront promenade, a pier extending into the Atlantic, and a charming pedestrian area with souvenir shops and bookshops. You will stay at the centrally located Swakopmund Plaza Hotel, with everything conveniently accessible on foot. In the evening, you can already make plans for the following day.
Day 6 (Thu): Swakopmund (B)
Today, you can explore Swakopmund and its surroundings according to your own interests. The town is known as “Namibia’s playground” for good reason, offering a wide range of activities, from relaxing to adventurous. How about a guided excursion into the desert to the bizarre lunar landscape? Or seek an adrenaline rush with sandboarding, quad biking in the dunes or a tandem skydive? There is also plenty to discover on the water: kayaking or catamaran cruises in Walvis Bay offer fascinating experiences, and with a little luck, you may even spot seals or dolphins. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can enjoy a walk by the sea, browse the shops or sample the cafés and ice-cream parlours.
Day 7 (Fri): Swakopmund – Namib Desert (B)
Today, you leave the fresh Atlantic air of Swakopmund behind and return to the impressive vastness of the Namib Desert. The journey takes you through endless desert landscapes and the spectacular Kuiseb Canyon with its rugged rock formations. Along the way, a stop in the small desert settlement of Solitaire is worthwhile, famous for its legendary apple pie. You then continue along gravel roads to your accommodation at the foot of the Tsaris Mountains. Here, you have time to relax, enjoy a short hike or join an optional nature drive. In the evening, the setting sun bathes the surrounding mountains in deep blue – a memorable moment on your journey through Namibia.
Day 8 (Sat): Namib Desert / Sossusvlei (B)
Today, an early start awaits: before sunrise, you set off with a cup of coffee or tea in the early morning light for the famous Sossusvlei. As the first light appears, the red dunes of the Namib glow in a spectacular play of colours. Particularly impressive is Deadvlei, with its ancient dead trees and striking contrast of red sand, white clay and blue sky. Afterwards, you visit Sesriem Canyon, a narrow gorge around 30 metres deep, carved by the Tsauchab River.
Day 9 (Sun): Mariental / Kalahari Edge (B)
Today, you continue south towards the edge of the Kalahari. Your accommodation is set amidst this rugged yet fascinating bush landscape. From here, you can enjoy sweeping views across the surrounding terrain and, with a little luck, observe wildlife at the nearby waterhole. Optionally, you can join a nature or wildlife drive offered by the lodge – a wonderful opportunity to experience the Kalahari one last time during the final hours of your journey.
Day 10 (Mon): Windhoek (B)
After breakfast, it is time to say goodbye. You travel back towards Windhoek, passing through the towns of Mariental and Rehoboth. Along the way, Namibia reveals its beauty one more time, with vast savannahs, open landscapes and endless skies accompanying you on your journey. Upon arrival in Windhoek, your guide will take you either to your hotel or directly to the airport, depending on your travel arrangements.
